“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him” Psalm 37:7

A school bus driver passed out at the wheel, and his large vehicle loaded with 60 students was careening out of control.  Seventh grader Dillon Reeves burst from his seat, rushed to the front of the bus and slowly stepped on the brake in the nick of time.  While most students were busy texting or playing games on their phones, Dillon, who didn’t have a phone, had his head up and reacted.  He knew to depress the brake slowly as he’s seen the driver do many times.  Remaining alert and not distracted helped him save the lives of all aboard, including the driver, who later revived.  Right place, right time.  A nursing convention was being held at a hotel when a guest experienced a heart attack in the lobby.  Immediately more than two dozen caregivers came to his rescue and worked to keep him alive.  The guest was incredibly grateful for all the nurses who were there at the right place, at the right time.

We can become so distracted by screens and other things that cause us to take our eyes off of God.  As we remain alert, by keeping our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2) we can spring into action when God calls.  Sometimes we may wonder why situations happen or circumstances change.  Perhaps we get frustrated and try to change things.  Remember that God may have placed you in a current situation for a specific purpose at the right time, even if He didn’t make that plan clear to you.

In chapter 7 of Luke’s gospel, we read of Jesus entering Capernaum.  There was a centurion who had a slave who was sick and at the point of death.  The centurion said to Jesus, “just speak the words and my servant will be healed”.  When the centurion returned home his slave had been healed.  Later in that same chapter we read of Jesus coming to the city of Nain.  As Jesus approached the gate of the city a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother.  Jesus told the woman “do not weep”.  Jesus then came up to the coffin and said; “young man I say to you arise!”  The young man sat up and Jesus gave him back to his mother.  I share these two stories to point out that Jesus is always there at the right place and right time – even though it’s not always when we want or expect.  Certainly, there are other examples of Jesus being in the right place at the right time.  Never lose focus of the fact that even in your life, Jesus is there at the right place at the right time.
