One or more volunteers are needed to help extend our school’s computer network to facilitate better use of our new INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS .  We already have these displays installed in several classrooms and have ordered another which will be installed over Christmas break.  Eventually each classroom will have an interactive display. While these displays can connect to the local network via WIFI, a wired connection will be faster and more stable.

SUMMARY OF THE NEED

Bring new CAT6 cable from our network switch (located in the Teacher’s Workroom) to classrooms.

DETAILS:

  • The project can be completed over a period of time, and one step at a time
  • Install new plastic raceway and boxes in the classrooms
  • Bring CAT6 cable through new and existing raceway
  • An entry code will be provided to the volunteer(s) so that the work can be completed at almost any time when school is not in session (late afternoons & evenings, weekends, school breaks)

SKILLS:

  • Must be comfortable working from a ladder (provided)
  • Use of cordless power tools (impact driver, drill, saw) which can be provided if necessary.
  • NO EXPERIENCE with computer networking is required (a volunteer with knowledge and skills could make the final connections)
  • Must be able to work independently or with a couple of partners (instruction/training will be provided, but no on-site supervision will be available while work continues)

TIMELINE:

  • Before the end of January, 2025.

Contact the school office for more information or to volunteer.

If you would like to donate a new interactive display for your student’s classroom the current cost of these displays are $3,500. We are currently on target to complete the project in the 2026-27 school year.
