Sufficiently and consistently funding the ministry of St. John’s Lutheran School requires plenty of planning. Determining the best student for tuition, fees, and scholarships is a task our school’s leadership takes on each year beginning in December.
If Dorothy was a school leader or parent, it wouldn’t be lions and tigers and bears that would give her reason to be afraid. Rather, it would be tuition, fees, and scholarships that may impact a student’s ability to enroll … or remain enrolled … at our school.
At its February meeting, the School Board will be reviewing the final recommendations from our Principal and Pastor concerning tuition and fees for the coming year. A couple of key things go into coming up with that recommendation:
- Whatever the plan, our PRIMARY guiding principles are:
- Eliminating financial barriers for students and their families
- Sufficient funding for our school ministry
- While it is influenced by many factors (including actual enrollment) an Eagle education costs more than $8,500 annually. At least 85% of that cost is for personnel.
- A large number of families currently have NO out-of-pocket costs for their students.
Registration Fees, Technology Fees, and Athletic Fees help provide for many of the ongoing operational costs at St. John’s. Thanks to some great planning on the part of our leadership, we will continue to upgrade the technology for our classrooms and students. Improvements for our Eagle athletes are coming and many of those costs are funded by an annual fee paid by those students who participate in our organized sports teams.
A final list of tuition, fees, and scholarships to help provide for those costs should be available by March 1st.
