There was a great turn out for Trunk-or-Treat this year and the students and neighborhood families who attended enjoyed the many trunks and abundance of food and candy! The evening was another great community event for St. John’s and connected hundreds of folks, from church members, to school families and neighbors from the community.

Thank you to those who donated candy and financial gifts. We had plenty of candy to keep all of the trunks stocked through the whole evening. The financial donations were used to cover the costs of the hot dogs that were provided at no charge for all who attended.

There were 19 trunks for the attendees to visit, with fun themes ranging from ‘6 7’ and spooky spider web, to a Costco samples table, to the Wizard of Oz. There was a full camping spot setup, complete with a tent and firepit and cooler (which the kids took their treats from) and a Minecraft setup with a ‘portal’ the kids could walk through.

Over 550 hot dogs were served, and over 325 children attended, many of whom have no connection to our church or school. The NEST and Student Council combined efforts to hand out fliers about the school and invite parents to tour the classrooms and learn more. It was wonderful to see so many members of the greater La Porte community on campus getting to know the St. John’s community we all love.

Prizes were awarded to the top three trunks, as voted on by the children who attended. The winning trunks were ‘Candy Land’, ‘Outerspace Duckies’, and ‘6 7’, all pictured below.
