This year’s Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 25, was another great community event for St. John’s. This evening of candy, fellowship, and food connected hundreds of folks from church members to school families and neighbors from the community.

Prizes were awarded to the 3 best trunks. Votes were submitted by the kids who attended! More than 200 votes were submitted and the winners were: a panda-themed trunk (decked out with many panda stuffed animals and blankets!), an ambulance with a skeleton patient, and a Christmas-themed trunk.

1st place: Panda-monium

2nd place: Spooky Ambulance

3rd place: Christmas Time Trunk

After visiting the 28 trunks, families were able to get hot dogs for dinner. Thanks to generous donors and a Thrivent grant, the hot dogs were free for attendees and were not a cost for the church to run the event. Over 550 hot dogs were cooked up, by a wonderful team of volunteers, which ended up being just the right amount to serve all who attended! Lots of bags of candy were donated, to supplement what was brought by those who decorated their trunk. In the last five minutes of the event, the last of the candy donations were needed to refill a trunk.

Praise God for providing exactly what was needed to run a successful event for the La Porte community! Furthermore, praise God for providing faithful and generous donors in the St. John’s community!

Thank you to all who donated, volunteered their time, hosted a trunk, or prayed for this event!! The donations and efforts of each person are greatly appreciated by the church staff. Please continue to pray that God will use this event to bring people back to St. John’s, to get to know Him better, and to experience the love of Jesus shared by this community.
