We are about six months into our Capital Campaign, The Ministry We Share (TMWS). However, we remain a considerable distance from our goal. On Sunday, June 7, those in worship will receive a more comprehensive UPDATE on the status of this campaign and the projects we intend to undertake when the gifts or pledges are sufficient.
CHURCH SANCTUARY HVAC
The air conditioning for our sanctuary has been operating at 50% capacity for several years. Last summer that was reduced to 25%. We are waiting for a final bid from a contractor to upgrade, repair or replace the larger units that help moderate the temperature in the sanctuary, but current estimates are around $60,000.
GYMNASIUM ROOM REPAIRS
Given that the roof on our gymnasium (and contiguous spaces) is 50 years old, it really should be replaced. Leaders hope that we could make repairs that extend the life of the roof by at least five or even ten years. We have not received any estimates for the work, but have set aside $65,000 for this project.
OTHER PROJECTS
With larger buildings come larger projects, even if a repair is all that is required. Right now there are NO FUNDS available for the “unforeseen” project that is likely to pop up in the coming two years or so. Several years ago, when the rooftop HVAC units for our school all had to be replaced we did have some funds on hand that could help cover the cost. But now those funds are exhausted. Funds raised through TMWS will help replenish our Capital Improvement Fund so that these projects can receive much-needed attention in the coming years.
PROGRESS
While final amounts through the end of May will not be available for several weeks, our last update indicates pledges and gifts of about $131,500 … which is only about 45% of the way to our ultimate goal of $298,800. ONCE WE REACH our goal we should be set to respond well to several other emergency needs as they may arise.
How can you help us reach our goal?
