Student Council members made get-well cards for church members in need of encouragement, sharing kindness and compassion.
They also completed their monthly service project by filling baskets with snacks for our local EMS. In honor of First Responder Month in May, students chose this as a meaningful way to give back and show appreciation for those who serve our community each day. Each basket included heartfelt thank-you cards created by the students. Photos of the completed baskets can be seen below.
The Student Council will be hosting a Coin War during the month of May. Students are encouraged to participate as classes compete to collect the most money. The winning class will earn a special reward of an ice cream treat and extra recess.
All proceeds from the Coin War will go toward the charity selected for this month’s chapel offerings, The Seminary food bank in Fort Wayne, providing students with another opportunity to give back and make a positive impact.
In the end, 2nd grade brought in the highest total with an impressive 171 cans and boxes of food, earning a well-deserved pizza party!
After collecting and organizing the items, Student Council members helped transport the donations to Mrs. Watkins’ classroom. The food was then delivered to the local Union Township food pantry, where she serves as the Union Township Trustee, to help support local families.
We are so proud of the Student Council and all of the students for their generosity and servant hearts!
