Student Council members were especially busy during National Lutheran Schools Week as they organized and supported the “Souper Bowl” food drive. Throughout the week, the Student Council members carefully counted the cans and boxes of food donated each day, keeping a running total of the generosity shown by the school families and separately tabulating each class’ donations.
With the help of the entire St. John’s student body, an incredible 747 cans and boxes of food were collected! The original goal was just 100 items, but four different grades nearly reached — or even surpassed — that amount on their own.
In the end, 2nd grade brought in the highest total with an impressive 171 cans and boxes of food, earning a well-deserved pizza party!
After collecting and organizing the items, Student Council members helped transport the donations to Mrs. Watkins’ classroom. The food was then delivered to the local Union Township food pantry, where she serves as the Union Township Trustee, to help support local families.
We are so proud of the Student Council and all of the students for their generosity and servant hearts!
