St. John’s Lutheran School is participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. This marks 100 years for Scripps National Spelling Bee! The winners of our spelling bee are then entered into the La Porte Regional Bee. The winner of the regional bee represents our entire region that the national bee held in our nation’s capital!
In past years, the Regional Spelling Bee has been an in-person, exciting event for the students to participate in. After having lost the sponsor, the only option available is a virtual Spelling Bee. UNLESS Pastor Albers is able to gather enough community partners before January 15 to make it possible. He has one commitment in hand and several other local businesses are considering the possibility. If we can get the partners lined up, we may need additional volunteers to coordinate the regional spelling bee as well.
Dr. Lipscomb and Ms. Kroemer are this year’s coordinators and look forward to making the Spelling Bee both an educational and fun day for the students. The date for the St. John’s Lutheran School Bee is January 28th and a snow-date is scheduled for January 30th.
