Spelling Bee

Kenneth Martinez represented St. John’s Lutheran School on March 16th at South Central School in the LaPorte County Regional Spelling Bee. This event was sponsored by Kankakee Valley REMC. We are so proud of Kenneth!

Science Fair

Thank you so much to all our students who gave their very best effort at the Science Fair this year! We were again blessed with very unique and interesting displays in our gymnasium on Thursday, March 23. The middle school science fair is an opportunity for students in Grades 5-8 to complete an independent science project following either the scientific method or the engineering design process. Students conduct their research, complete an experiment, track data, summarize the information in a report, then present their findings at the science fair. We look forward to seeing what you do next year!

Spring Club News

CODE CLUB is coming back to St. John’s this May! Grades 5-8 meet on Mondays after school until 4:00, and grades 2-4 will meet on Mondays from 2:30-3:30. Students will work at their own individual level and create their very own games, apps, or websites (with parental permission). We will be using Code.org, a nonprofit that just wants all students to have access to computer science at no cost. On May 22, there will be an Hour of Code, a special culminating project for the coders. The Code Club invitations will be sent home in mid-April.
