Special Worship Events fill the congregation’s calendar

As the season of Easter comes to an end, the month of May brings with it some of the most important festivals of the church year.

ASCENSION THURSDAY, MAY 9

A Festival of Our Lord marking the day of Christ’s Ascension into heaven is the final festival marking the events of our Lord’s life and ministry beginning really with the Festival of Our Lord’s Nativity, continuing to the Baptism of Our Lord and, most critically, the Festival of Our Lord’s Resurrection.

Worship will be at 10 am and 6:30 pm on May 9 with both services being held in our Chapel.

MOTHER’S DAY, MAY 12

The 2nd Sunday of May is NOT a church festival but mothers are a precious gift from God!  According to local tradition, we will include a special Prayer of Thanksgiving for Mother’s Day will mark the day, included in each of our regularly scheduled worship services that weekend.

PENTECOST SUNDAY, MAY 19

The Festival of the Holy Spirit, marking the birth of the church, is on Sunday, May 19, this year. Each service that weekend (May 18/19) will be the Divine Service (including the celebration of Holy Communion). Each service will also include either the celebration of Holy Baptism or the Affirmation of Holy Baptism.

HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY, MAY 26

The first Sunday after Pentecost is always identified as the Feast of the Holy Trinity and, thanks to an earlier-than-usual Easter, will already come before the end of May. Each worship service will follow the Divine Service (including the celebration of Holy Communion).

FATHER’S DAY, JUNE 16

Just like Mother’s Day, the 3rd Sunday of May is NOT a church festival but fathers are also a precious gift from God!  According to local tradition, we will include a special Prayer of Thanksgiving for Father’s Day will mark the day, included in each of our regularly scheduled worship services the weekend of June 15th-16th.
