Governing Board seeks volunteers for “exploratory committee” in first steps to call an Associate Pastor.

Earlier this spring the Board of Elders approached the Governing Board with the need to call an Associate Pastor, expanding the possibilities for ministry at St. John’s. But they knew there are numerous things to consider. What knowledge, skills and abilities would be best for St. John’s at this point in time? What amount of experience do we want in a 2nd pastor? How much will it cost? Do we have the capacity to support a second, full-time pastor?

So instead of first forming a “Call Committee” to begin the process of calling another pastor, the Governing Board is putting together an “exploratory committee” to answer these and other questions. From this work, the Governing Board will then act on this committee’s recommendations, form a Call Committee … or not!

We are seeking a group of 5-6 folks who are actively engaged in the life and ministry of St. John’s and would be willing to serve. The committee will be appointed by the Governing Board at its next meeting, August 21, and the group will get to work immediately. The group will have an aggressive timeline: meet and explore the various issues, bringing a report to the Governing Board by its November meeting so that a Call Committee can be formed before the next meeting of the Voter’s Assembly (usually in December).

If you would like to serve, please speak with Zach Alexander (Congregational President) or Pastor Albers ASAP!
