At their respective meetings in October, the School Board and the Governing Board both began the process of calling new leadership for St. John’s.

PRINCIPAL

We are blessed with a fine interim principal who has already served very well, and it will likely take many months to make more permanent plans. At its meeting on October 14, the School Board began the process by setting up a sub-committee for this purpose. Several board members volunteered to serve and Pastor Albers is asking for the assistance of one or two additional church members.

The group should meet at least once prior to the next regularly-scheduled school board meeting on November 11.

ASSOCIATE PASTOR

In case this is the first word you are hearing about this, Pastor Albers isn’t going anywhere … for now!  An Associate Pastor would provide additional opportunity for ministry at St. John’s and may provide a better succession plan when Pastor Albers does make plans for retirement.

At its meeting on October 28 the conversation focused on first steps towards calling this pastor. A sub-committee of board members, with at least one other recruit from our school’s faculty, will be putting together a PASTOR PROFILE as a means to describe the pastor we wish to call to serve along with us at St. John’s.

The group will develop that profile over the next several months, even presenting a draft at our Voters’ Assembly in December. Using this profile the Governing Board will then seek the assistance of our Circuit Visitor, the Rev. Daniel Speckhard (St. Peter’s, North Judson) in order to move toward interviewing candidates and the Call process.
