Every Wednesday during the school year, the students have the opportunity to bring an offering, which is brought forward during Chapel. These offerings are a great way for the students to learn about and practice tithing and supporting their community and the furthering of the Gospel!

Offerings During the 24-25 School Year

Each quarter, the donations are given to a different group. This past year in the first quarter, $282.98 was donated to Habitat for Humanity and they were able to attend Chapel a short time later to receive the donation in person. In the second quarter, $186.35 was donated to Operation Christmas Child . In the third quarter, $149.07 was donated to La Porte City Parks. In the fourth quarter, $141.57 was donated to the Salvation Army.

Offerings for the 25-26 School Year will Support Various Ministries

During this upcoming school year, the students will be able to support more Lutheran ministries with their offerings. Offerings from the first quarter will go to support Lutheran Child and Family Services. This is a non-profit organization that cares for foster children, children who have endured violence, and families needing significant resources. Their programs care for children both physically, mentally and spiritually.

During the second quarter, offerings received will go to Operation Christmas Child. Every year Mrs. Sally Foglesong oversees the gathering of shoebox kits to be sent around the world to gift to children in need. (Around 130 boxes were assembled by the school in each of the last few years.) These offerings are part of financing that program.

Third quarter offerings will support the Lutheran church’s Mercy Medical Teams. These are teams of medical professionals who pay their own way to go to communities in critical need of healthcare. The offerings will offset the cost of the medical supplies that will be needed for the trip, to lessen the cost for those who feel called to go on the trips.

Finally, fourth quarter offerings will support the Food Bank at the Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne. These funds will be used to purchase food for the seminarians, who often are short on funds as they attend grad school to prepare for ministry as Pastors and Deaconesses. The students are able to ‘‘shop’ at the Food Bank without cost, to help defray the financial burden of attending Seminary.

If you would like to support any of these programs as well, outside donations are welcomed and will be included in the time of offerings during Chapel. To give to the school offering, just bring your donation to the school office.
