Last month most of the work on the recent expansion of Project Welcome 2.0 was completed. Most of the balcony has been cleaned up and work turns to re-balancing the sound system and supplementing existing equipment to better meet our worship needs. 

And the great news is that recent additional donations have provided sufficient funds for the large list of tasks! Over the last three years donors have provided nearly $109,000 for ten project areas:

• The narthex restroom project required $13,900, mostly for plumbing and tile.
• A new vertical platform lift was installed at the portico entrance at a cost of $19,400.
• Repaving and reconfiguring the front drive required just over $17,000.
• Investments in improved technology for the church building cost $7,650
• Plaster repairs and paint cost another $4,500 and plenty of volunteers!
• Nearly $18,300 was invested in new flooring, mostly porcelain tile, to replace the old composition tile in the narthex, cloister walk, chapel and altar platform.
• We invested $15,300 in new chairs for the chapel.
• The total costs for the new chapel doors amounted to $6,600.
• All the other “smaller” projects (including the while-we’re-at-it-we-might-as-well projects in the balcony) totaled $4,750.

The total expenditure to date is just over $107,400. A few more supplies to complete trim work in the chapel and add a few items to the sanctuary sound system are still needed, which will bring the total to $109,000 as was mentioned above. It is a blessing that all of this work has been made possible by donations and St. John’s is grateful for all donors that contributed toward these updates.
