After a review of the plan by the Board of Trustees and Governing Board, Principal Berndt placed the order for equipment for the new Preschool Play Area!
Since the equipment was ordered by the end of February, all of the necessary components should be on site by the middle of June, just in time before the grant from the Health Foundation of LaPorte expires (June 30).
The Governing Board re-directed unused funds from various sources and when combined with donations already received, we will have sufficient money available to pay the invoice when it arrives later this spring.
The only question that remains: will we receive sufficient additional donations to complete the project?
We CAN complete the project with the funds received to date. The question is whether we can complete the project using the Pour-in-place Rubber Surface instead of pine bark mulch. Pine bark mulch has been a standard for play areas for many years but can be messy and make maintenance much more difficult. A pour-in-place rubber surface is cleaner, easier to maintain, and … more importantly … is more accessible, even for students with limited mobility.
