Planetarium Visits St. John’s Just Before Thanksgiving…
A Digitarium Planetarium System will be coming to St. John’s on November 21st. Last summer, Mrs. Cindy Skalka and Miss Julie Stelter received training at NIESC (Northern Indiana Educational Service Center) on the setup and use of a Digitarium Planetarium System. A planetarium helps students grasp abstract astronomical concepts and can spark enjoyment and interest in science.
Digitarium systems offer advanced features to excite and engage students. Zoom in on and label any object; demonstrate annual motion; display constellations from many cultures; and much more. Features of this Digitarium include, yet are not limited to the display of celestial phenomena such as transits and eclipses; the display or orbits of the planets and moon; showing annual motion, including retrograde planetary motion; and simulation of the solar system over a two million year time range. We are so excited for our students to have the opportunity to experience this Digitarium Planetarium System.
