To kick-off National Lutheran Schools Week, Sunday morning was full of special activities for all of the church and school families!

On January 25th breakfast was served in the gym for those who were able to brave the snow and wind! Breakfast was catered by Cafe Trinity and offered a great time for families from church and school to enjoy fellowship with one another.

Worship was held in the gym that morning. The student choirs helped to lead worship by performing a couple of songs, and the students also helped by loudly singing the other songs that they recognized from chapel and music class throughout the service.

During worship St. John’s was able to present the chapel offerings from the first quarter to Lutheran Child and Family Services (LCFS) of Indianapolis. The spiritual life directors, Kathy Witto and Deaconess Elizabeth Froh were present to receive the donation and to share more about their ministry. They are a resource for children, primarily teens, who are struggling with a variety of issues. If you’d like to support LCFS or learn more about them, go to https://www.lutheranfamily.org/

There were special dress up days each day of the snowy 4-day week of school: dress like your favorite book character, bring a stuffed animal, 100th day of school, and school spirit day! Special activities during the week included the Spelling Bee, ‘minute to win it’ games, playing basketball against the teachers, and the week ended with a pep rally!

There was also a blood drive in which 20 donors contributed toward the current blood shortage, including many St. John’s parents and church members.
