Interim-Principal
Greg has 21 years experience as an educator, most of them at La Porte High School, and received his building administrator credentials from Purdue in 2023. He is a parent of two St. John’s students, has been active on the NEST team, and is an active member of Assembly of God in La Porte. He began work the beginning of August and is swiftly getting prepared for the school year, to lead the teachers and students through a great year.
Greg earned his administrator credentials from Purdue University in 2023. He has studied at several Indiana universities, including Ball State and Indiana University. For the past 21 years he was a biology teacher at La Porte High School.
Greg has wanted to move into a school administration role. This year is a great fit for St. John’s to be blessed by his studies and talents, as well as a great opportunity for St. John’s to give him his first experience as a principal and help prepare him for whatever administrative role he may serve in next school year.
We are grateful to have a leader and active member of our community step into this role so quickly. More introductions with Principal Alberding will be shared in next month’s newsletter, to help our community get to know him better.
Changes in Teaching Staff
Lisa Vaillancort is the new third grade teacher. She is a familiar face around the school as she worked as the third grade aid during this spring semester. We are excited to have her step into this new role to teach and care for our students!
Emilie Gross is currently the reading interventionist and oversees the school’s IT needs. She is stepping up to be the interim-second grade teacher. She has previously worked as the fifth grade teacher for St. John’s as well. We are grateful for her numerous skills and willingness to step in to teach second grade. When a new second grade teacher is hired, Emilie will return to her role as IT and reading interventionist.
Marlene Will was, most recently, a classroom aide and the school’s Title I Reading Coach. She is moving closer to her family so she will no longer be around the school. We will continue to keep her move and transitions in our prayers and wish her the best.
