Leaders have also been working on improving the lighting for our main sanctuary by relocating some fixtures and making sure we are using brighter LED bulbs. The newest bulbs were put in place right before Christmas Eve. We are actually hoping to replace these newest bulbs with a “soft white” bulb. Like these bulbs they will be extremely bright and dimmable, but will be a bit less “white.”  These bright white flood lights will be used elsewhere in the school building to provide some security lighting, lighting that remains on 24 hours a day in places like the gymnasium.

While the color of the light is usually referred to as “warm” vs. “cool,” technically the light “temperature” is measure on a “kelvin” scale that ranges from 2700k to 5000k.  A light on the lower end of this scale will look a bit more yellow and on the other end it can actually look at bit like blue.

Light Temperature ComparisonThe best news is that, thanks to these upgrades, the “temporary” fix that was put in place on the wall in front of the pulpit can now be removed!
