Fundraising Campaign sets a lofty goal of raising $300,000 in new donations
In the last three years St. John’s has invested heavily in our facilities, updating and renovating spaces at both the church and school buildings. Each project was undertaken as part of an ongoing effort to care well for and improve what we have been provided by those who have come before us.
It may surprise many that we have invested nearly $600,000 in improving our building and grounds over that time. Many of these projects were carefully planned and fully funded by donations, grants and existing funds set aside for capital improvements. Others were undertaken as the result of an emergency and were not fully funded. Still others have yet to be completed. It is these last two categories that we hope to fund through this campaign.
Through Project Welcome St. John’s invested nearly $108,000 in various projects around the church building. A Pre-School Play Area was added at a cost of nearly $56,000. Over a period of years many safety and security upgrades have required another $195,700. We also expanded the capacity of our computer network and patched the school’s parking lot when the driveway at church was expanded.
Other projects were undertaken in response to an emergency need. Beginning in the fall of 2023, and occurring within just a few months, 11 rooftop HVAC units were replaced at a cost of more than $105,000. Just this summer it became necessary to replace our gymnasium floor at a cost of $85,000. This doesn’t include smaller projects over the years that bring the total of UNPLANNED projects to nearly $207,000!
We are also faced with a need to invest in some more significant roof repairs for the school building and replacement AC units for the church sanctuary. While still being planned, these two projects add another $125,000 to the total. Over the last two years donors have provided at least $30,000 for the project to replace our sanctuary AC units, bringing the total for these down to $95,000.
