The July Voters’ Assembly provides an opportunity for our Treasurer to provide a mid-year financial report.

While St. John’s maintains numerous “special funds” to provide for projects, events, and other purposes, the vast majority of our congregation’s finances are reflected in the congregation’s General Fund. The fund includes line items that track ongoing operational expenses for the church and school (outside of education-related expenses), repair and maintenance and utilities.  The largest portion by far is that used to fund the cost of payroll and benefits, close to 85% of the General Fund.

The treasurer will provide a report that includes details about:

  • The need TYD for $0 in transfers from investments (Every other year we have had one or even two such transfers in the first six months of the year).
  • The growing amount of tuition income.
  • The cost of payroll and benefits for both the church and school.
  • The cost of ongoing repairs and maintenance for both the church and school.
  • Utility costs for church and school.

The Investment Committee will also provide a report of the status of the investment fund and the impact of new records being set in the stock market.
