What are our plans for the future?
The church is not unlike other mission-based non-profit organizations, we are working towards a more sustainable future where our work to extend God’s kingdom can continue unencumbered by concerns for sufficient financial resources. As Pastor Albers likes to say, “If your only mission is a balanced budget, just close up! No income and no expenses equals a balanced budget.” Our goal at St. John’s is building a sustainable future for ministry!
LEGACY GIVING
Over the decades St. John’s has received the blessings of financial resources provided by a church member who has died, remembering St. John’s in their Last Will and Testament. Others may hesitate to do so when they are concerned the church will use those financial resources in a manner inconsistent with their plan.
Over the last few years we have taken some steps to ensure our ability to have a sustainable future!
- SCHOLARSHIPS: A big part of the way that St. John’s provides financial support for our school is through the use of scholarships. Donors can provide for the future of our school by designating gifts for scholarships.
- MAJOR PROJECTS: Congregational leadership are always working to identify the cost and impact of individual projects, beyond what is currently being undertaken. Even though many projects have been undertaken in the past, there will always be more work to accomplish.
- ENDOWMENT FUNDS: We are exploring the possibility of setting up a St. John’s Endowment Fund that can generate income for future support of ministry.
