Our tuition does not cover the actual cost to educate our students.  With the help of Indiana’s Choice Scholarship, donations made to our school through the Lutheran Scholarship Granting Organization, and the congregation of St. John’s, we have been able to keep the out-of-pocket costs low for most families.  However, the gap between Choice scholarships and the actual cost of educating a student at St. John’s is growing, so this year the financial assistance offered through St. John’s has been restructured … slightly.

Our goal is to eliminate financial hurdles for enrolling a student at St. John’s.

MEMBER DISCOUNTS: As in previous years, members of St. John’s Lutheran Church will receive a $400 discount on Tuition and Fees.

CHOICE SCHOLARSHIPS: For the 2026-27 school year EVERY student … regardless of income … will receive Indiana’s Choice Scholarship. This scholarship covers about 80% of the cost of tuition and fees. The amount of the Choice Scholarship depends on the school corporation of residence.  Students who live in the boundary of the New Prairie School Corporation or South Central School Corporation will receive $350 LESS than a student who lives within the La Porte Community School Corporation.

SCHOLARSHIPS: St. John’s will continue to provide several scholarship:

  • Those who actively participate in the life and ministry of a Christian church … including St. John’s … qualify for a church partner scholarship of up to $1,000. The key is “actively participate”.
  • Those who more actively support our school community …  NEST helpers, classroom parents, chaperones, and other school volunteers … may qualify for a school partner scholarship of up to $300.

FINANCIAL AID: Lastly, if further financial assistance is needed, a family may apply for needs-based financial aid.  The amount awarded will be based on a combination of family income and household size.

Our commitment is to REMOVE any financial barriers to enrolling a student at St. John’s. For some an out-of-pocket cost of $350-$500 is the most they can afford. Others can easily afford to cover the entire cost of the gap between Choice Scholarships and Tuition and Fees ($2,000-$2,500).
