The annual Family Reunion Sunday was a wonderful morning of worship, community, celebration, and dining!
The weather was perfect, maybe even a little chill, in the shade of the trees. Pastor and the worship team led a wonderful service for all of the church and school families gathered.
During the service, all of the teachers were re-dedicated in front of the congregation. They were reintroduced, reminding everyone of the returning staff, introducing the new fourth grade teacher Mrs. Lisa Vallaincourt, and introducing Mrs. Gross’ new role as second grade teacher. The teachers and aides promised to be faithful to their vocation and Pastor Albers spoke a blessing over them.
After worship, families got to tour the school and check out how the teachers have setup their classrooms for the year. Among the sights was a Prometheon smart board in every single classroom, thanks to donations by church members and the handiwork of several volunteers who installed them over the summer.
Everyone then gathered for a dedication prayer of the new gym floor. Pastor Albers thanked God for this new improvement that will cater to many needs of the school and church, and asked for God’s blessing on the coming activities that will utilize that space.
Several church volunteers served pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans and watermelon for the over 120 in attendance. There were so many people dining together that more tables and chairs had to be set out, which is a wonderful ‘problem’ to run into.
Again exemplifying the community atmosphere of the day, many hands might light work as the outdoor worship space, kitchen and gym were all swiftly cleaned and returned to their normal setup to be ready for school on Monday.
Thank you to ALL who helped with setup, singing, handing out bulletins, running technology and audio, cooking, serving, cleaning, tidying up, and any other multiple odd jobs that were required to make it a smoothly-running morning for all of the church and school families!
