The end of the year is packed with so many events and special activities! Here are some of the fun things that the students got to do as they looked forward to completing another successful year of studies and growth!

Career Day – On April 24th, grades 5, 6, 7, & 8 attended our annual Career Day in the Gymnasium.  We had a great turn out of professionals attending this year.  We are working on establishing relationships with many different people and businesses so that we can plan a rotation and students see different faces and professions from one year to the next.  

Project Night – May 1st saw a successful project night focusing on the Social Studies curriculum.  We are discussing adding a Middle School Science Fair Night next year, too.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation – NEST did an AMAZING job celebrating our staff this year. Each day the teachers had a different theme for their ‘undercover’ dress up days. The students had to try to guess what the common theme was, which included: monochrome, drink out of anything except a cup, decades day, and alumni pride. Teachers were treated with food, gifts, and student messages that all added to a wonderful week of appreciation.

Middle School Dance – Formally known as the 8th grade dance, the 6-8th grade students had a great time with food, music, and pictures.  Parents and staff did a great job putting this event together.

Final Eagle Treat Day – We had a PJ and popcorn treat day for our 4th quarter offerings. Students got to eat popcorn in their classrooms and, if they donated $1 toward offering, got to wear their pajamas. It was great to see the students and teachers joining in the fun.

Field Trips – 3rd and 4th grades recently went to “The Shrine” in Crown Point and to the Indiana Dunes.  This Friday we have K-8 going to Bremen Field Day. 

Spring Concert – Thank you to all that attended our Spring Concert.  The students did a wonderful job singing in the program that Ms. Rosselli put together for us.  It was a JOY to hear the students in this last school-wide performance of the year.  

Pre-K and Kindergarten Graduation – The Pre-K and Kindergarten classes were celebrated for completing their year, and rejoiced in looking forward to next year’s opportunities.  

8th Grade Visited LaPorte High School – Our 8th grade students visited LPHS and were led on a short tour of the building where some of them will spend the next four years of their schooling.  

LaPorte High School Seniors visited St. John’s – LPHS seniors that attended St. John’s had the opportunity to visit the school and walk the halls one more time before their high school graduation.  It was wonderful listening to their stories as they reminisced together, pouring over old yearbooks and talking with former teachers.  

Kona Ice – On Tuesday of this week, NEST provided Kona Ice for all of our students to help celebrate the ending of another great year at St. John’s.

St. John’s Field Day – Tomorrow, St. John’s will celebrate the end of the school year with an afternoon of games on the field.

Awards – Tomorrow, St. John’s will have two award ceremonies, celebrating our students who earned school awards.  Classroom awards have also been presented in individual classrooms.  This year’s top awards are: Valedictorian (Ian Roule), Salutetorian (Sophi Skalka), and Principal’s Award (Lydia Grott).  

8th Grade Graduation – The 8th grade graduation will be Saturday May 30th at 6pm in the Church. All are invited to attend and celebrate the achievements of our students. The service will also be livestreamed, please contact the school office for the password to view the livestream.
