SCHOOL CALENDAR REMINDERS
Parent Teacher Conference will be held Monday, September 25th, from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for Preschool through 8th-grade students. Teachers sent appointment time letters home with students on September 5th. We look forward to meeting with our partners to discuss student progress this school year.
Parents will also receive a four-digit entry code to use at Door #2 that day. Parents with “morning” appointments will use one code and parents with afternoon appointments will use another.
Fall Break will be Friday, October 20th, and Monday, October 23rd. Thanksgiving Break will be Wednesday, November 22nd through Friday, November 24th. Since these breaks are just a little different from LaPorte Community Schools, there will be no bus service on November 20th and November 21st.
TECHNOLOGY
Our Technology Committee has been researching Interactive Displays for the past several months. The committee will be recommending to the St. John’s School Board to purchase two Promethean boards. One board will be a wall unit, located permanently in the 6th-grade classroom. The second board will be a mobile board primarily placed in one classroom, yet allowing other teachers to utilize the boards.
The committee is recommending that the School Board purchase the “ActivPanel 9,” a 75-inch panel that includes a microphone, built-in sound, a significant amount of memory, and automatic easy login. This board will also allow for more applications to be used and up to 20 users at one time.
We are enthusiastic about beginning to add Interactive Boards to our classroom to further enhance engagement, instruction, and learning. Each year we are planning to add this board to additional classrooms. If you would like to SPONSOR the purchase of a board with a gift of $3,000, we could more quickly add this technology to each of our classrooms.
