SJLS Teachers Continue Education and Interactions with Lutheran Teachers
In the beginning … in 1858 … every student and member of our school’s faculty were an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In 2025 only about 20% of St. John’s Lutheran School (children, faculty, staff and leadership) is a part of the congregation. That doesn’t stop our leaders from making efforts to build vital connections with the network of Lutheran schools and the various support programs, activities and conferences they offer.
In November, 2024, Our principal, Mrs. Julie Berndt, and Dr. Tammy Lipscomb (our Director of Student Success) attended a three-day “Connections Conference” in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The Connections conference brings together Lutheran School leaders from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
At the conference Dr. Lipscomb attended the course ‘Culture Keys and Killers’, in which Dr. Pingel talked about how to create a positive, Christ-centered school culture. She also attended ‘Courageous Conversations about Race’, and ‘Healthy and Assertive Responses.’ Each of these presenters gave Dr. Lipscomb ideas to bring back to St. John’s to share with the students and teachers.
