While not as dramatic as the installation of the new tile or new church chairs, progress is still moving forward on renovations to our chapel.
Most recently, a new altar platform was put in place. The old “permanent” platform is being replaced by nine smaller platforms, which can be reconfigured and repurposed depending on what is needed. A ledge along the wall behind the altar and some smaller “inserts” around the column will help complete the platform.
In the coming weeks, the existing communion rail sections from the chapel will be attached to platforms, creating kneelers that can also be reconfigured depending on the event.
Four new training tables were purchased and will help make the space even more usable for a host of purposes. In the coming months board meetings, bible studies, and conferences hosted by St. John’s can all begin to move into the chapel.
Work on the new tri-fold doors (replacing the old accordion doors) began on December 1. The doors are designed to fit well with the overall design of the sanctuary and will look a bit more like a moveable “wall” than the accordion doors.
