Each week the school cafeteria gets transformed from a place for school lunches and church meals to a worship space. Chairs and tables are rearranged and a sound cable connects the keyboard to the room’s sound system.  A kid’s area is set up in the corner, and a credenza is moved into place.

Now that Pastor Albers and others are working to build a stronger ensemble for the praise and worship music typically used for the service, the number of cables grew from one to FIVE to add a microphone, a “pick-up” for the guitar, another microphone for the piano and monitor speakers. Now that we have a more “usual” setup for worship music, a team of volunteers has worked to make everything more efficient and helpful. The audio cables are more permanent, along with patch panels in the front and back of the room. But there is plenty of flexibility built into the design.

Our goal with all of the upgrades is that there will be some basic capacity available by simply turning on the system and plugging in a microphone while still making sure we can add more musicians as the Connect music ensemble grows this year.
