On September 22nd, five high school students took ownership of their faith and membership in the church by being confirmed. Each of these students graduated from St. John’s Lutheran School this spring. They studied the Scriptures and what our church believes during their faith formation classes in 7th and 8th grades.

Beyond studying and learning the head knowledge of what Lutherans believe, they also exemplified their commitment by continuing to worship and commune at St. John’s over the summer and fall. They exemplified that they have learned that active participation in worshiping and volunteering are necessary pieces of belonging in the family of a congregation.

The week before the confirmation service, the students met with Deaconess Michele for lunch and a conversation about what it means to be confirmed. During this time, they learned what they would be confessing during the confirmation rite, and discussed how they, as high schoolers, can remain active members of the church who live out their faith at home and school.

Please continue to keep these students in your prayers, as they grow in faith during their freshman year of high school.

Later this school year, there will be two additional classes for students seeking confirmation. The first will bring together any students who seek the same instruction but are not students at St. John’s school. The second will be instruction for older elementary and middle school students who desire to receive communion for the first time during Holy Week, in 2025.
