On the first day of school, the students and teachers gather in the church to start the year with a chapel service. Everyone is welcome to join as we begin the school year with worship at 8:10am! Chapel, usually about 30 minutes long, occurs every Wednesday morning and all families, friends and St. John’s church members are welcome to join any week. Chapel is usually led by Pastor Albers, but each class also leads one chapel during the year.
To join for chapel, all guests must enter using the main entrance under the portico/awning, nearest to Monroe Street, in order to keep the student entrance secure.
During the first quarter (August 13 – October 16) offerings will go to support Lutheran Child and Family Services. This is a non-profit organization that cares for foster children, children who have endured violence, and families needing significant resources. Their programs care for children both physically, mentally and spiritually. If anyone else would like to help the school support this wonderful organization, they can bring a donation/offering to the school office.
