The new year is a great time to get involved in one of the many Bible studies that are just beginning! Each of these are open to new attendees. Those with busy schedules are encouraged to attend when they’re able – irregular attendance is welcomed. Please contact the church office to get connected with the study leaders.

WOW: 

This winter the WOW group (Women Of the Word) is doing a book study on “Junk Drawer Jesus” by Matt Popovits. We are examining the religious clutter we’ve held onto over time to let go of the spiritual notions that weigh us down, and instead cling to Jesus’ simplicity and grace. 

Meets in the chapel on Wednesdays at 6-7:30pm, January 8th – February 26th.

Women’s Tuesday Morning study: 

Have you ever wondered what sanctification means? Have you ever wondered why there are many words used in church that aren’t said in any other setting? Let’s dig into the context and true definition of some ‘church-y’ words to better understand how they explain our beliefs! Deaconess Michele will be leading this study, based on the book “Loaded Words”, to take away the baggage from words like ‘sin’ and ‘submit’ and ‘repent’ so they can be more helpful to our growth during church. 

Meets in the chapel on Tuesdays at 10am, January 7th – February 25th.

Men’s study:

The men’s Bible study meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month, in the chapel at 8:30am. Here are the upcoming topics:

January 11th we will discuss a parable from Luke “The Pharisee and the tax collector” and how this lesson from Jesus still applies to our lives.

February 8th we will begin a study titled “Meeting Change”. We will discuss how we meet and navigate change as it occurs in our lives. We’ll also look at the prophet Samuel and the tumultuous changes he endured.

The “Meeting Change” study will continue on March 8th, April 12th, May 10th, and June 14th.

Sunday morning study: 

Pastor Albers will teach a more in-depth study on the Old Testament faithful fathers for God’s people, through January and February. “Abraham, Isaac and Jacob: The Not-Always-So-Faithful Ones” will explore their stories and how they were not always so faithful. Jesus’ family tree includes, also, those who did not always trust God’s promises.

Over a period of seven weeks (January 26 is National Lutheran Schools Week) Pastor Albers will take participants through the stories of the book of Genesis, beginning with the story of Abram (Gen. 11) and continue through the end of Genesis when the sons of Jacob end up in Egypt.

The studies begin immediately after the Connect service and conclude by 11:45am each Sunday.
