As the season of Lent begins, and our hearts prepare for Easter, join one of the Bible study opportunities going on at St. John’s!
Each of these studies are open to new attendees. Those with busy schedules are encouraged to attend when they’re able – irregular attendance is welcomed. Please contact the church office to get connected with the study leaders.
Wednesday evenings, Open to ALL:
During the Lent soup suppers, WOW invites all to join in a devotion and conversation on Psalm 22. We will be using a devotional journal to do daily devotions through Lent. If you’d like a copy of the book, contact the church office.
This group will meet over soup, in the cafeteria on Wednesdays in Lent (beginning March 12th).
Sunday morning study:
Keeping Vigil: God’s Salvation Story
This Lent we will “keep vigil,” studying stories at the heart of God’s plan of salvation: Creation, the Great Flood, the Testing of Abraham, the Exodus, and the Valley of the Dry Bones. Our Sunday morning studies will focus on these FIVE stories and, especially, why they are so critical to the overall story of salvation in Christ.
The study begins immediately after the Connect service and conclude by 11:45 am each Sunday.
Women’s Tuesday Morning study:
On Tuesdays Deaconess Michele will begin leading a Bible study through the book of Joshua on March 18th. This study will continue through the spring and be a great conversation of God’s love and provision for His people as they entered the Promised Land, and for us as His people today! Materials are provided and all ladies are welcome, just bring your Bible.
This group meets in the chapel on Tuesdays at 10am.
Men’s study, NEW topic begins THIS SATURDAY:
The men’s Bible study meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month, in the chapel at 8:30am. All men are invited to join each month, or just for one.
March 8th we will continue the study titled “Meeting Change”. We are discussing how we meet and navigate change as it occurs in our lives, and looking at the prophet Samuel and the tumultuous changes he endured. This conversation is based on the book “Unfailing: God’s Assurance for Times of Change” by Christopher M Kennedy. You can purchase a copy of the book online or from the church office.
The “Meeting Change” study will continue on April 12th, May 10th, and June 14th
