Advent offers a wonderful time for extra reflection as we approach the celebration of the birth of our Savior. Here are the special services and events that are going on this season.
Advent Wednesday evenings
On December 3, 10 & 17 there is evening worship at 6:00 pm. The focus this year will be three prophecies from Isaiah that were ultimately fulfilled in the coming of Jesus.
Children’s Christmas Program
The St. John’s students will be having a Christmas program, full of songs and the narration of the nativity. Plan to join in the church sanctuary for this wonderful event on December 11th at 5:30pm. If there is inclement weather, the program will be moved to the 18th.
Eve of the Nativity of Our Lord
On December 24th, the annual Service of Lessons and Carols at 4 pm & 9 pm provide the perfect opportunity to sing the carols of the season and hear again the story of Jesus’ birth.
Nativity of Our Lord
We join to celebrate the birth of Christ on Thursday, December 25th at 10 am. The Divine Service includes numerous carols and is held in the Chapel.
Feast of The Holy Innocents
On December 27th/28th we recognize this festival day and remember the children that were killed during Herod’s hunt for the Christ child.
Second Sunday of Christmas
This is one of the rare years that the 12 days of Christmas include a second weekend. We celebrate the 2nd Sunday of Christmas the weekend of January 3rd/4th.
