  • St. John's Lutheran School Code of Christian Conduct Covering Students and Parents-Guardians

To maintain a positive learning environment, all members of the St. John's Lutheran School (SJLS) community must work together to support the mission and philosophy of the school. Therefore, it is a condition of enrollment that students and behave in a manner, both on and off campus, which is consistent with the principles and philosophy of SJLS. These principles include but are not limited to any policies, principles or procedures set forth in our Parent-Teacher Handbook. It is also a condition of enrollment that the parents/guardians of students conform themselves to these standards of conduct when interacting with all members of the SJLS community. These principles include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Parents/guardians should work courteously and cooperatively with SJLS to assist the student in meeting the academic, moral and behavioral expectations of the school. 2. Parents/guardians may respectfully pursue concerns about a student's progress or behavior by contacting the student's teacher. If matters are not resolved, the principal may be contacted. If, after meeting with the principal, the issue remains unresolved, the school board may be contacted. Conflicts between parents should be addressed with the school principal. 3. Students and parents/guardians may respectfully express their concerns about the school operation and its personnel to the proper school and church authorities. However, they must do so in a courteous manner that is not disrespectful, disruptive, threatening, hostile or divisive. 4. These expectations for students and parents/ guardians apply, but are not limited to, all school-sponsored programs and athletic events held on and off the SJLS campus. SJLS reserves the right to determine, in its discretion, which actions fall short of meeting the principles and philosophy of SJLS. Failure to follow these principles will result in a verbal/written warning to the student and/or parent/guardian and, for students, the appropriate disciplinary action as articulated in the Parent-Teacher Handbook and/or the classroom management plan. SJLS reserves the right to determine, in its discretion, when conduct is of such a severe nature as to warrant immediate disciplinary action (suspension of student or suspension of parent/guardian's privilege to come on campus and/or participate in school activities) or require parents/guardians to withdraw their child with or without a previous warning.
