This year, Reformation Sunday will be an even more special weekend as we celebrate the Rite of Confirmation for four young members of our church.

On Sunday there will only be one worship service. It will be at 9am, in the Sanctuary. (There will still be Saturday evening service in the Sanctuary at 6pm as normal.)

Reformation Sunday is always the last Sunday in October and commemorates the day that Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the church doors. This was his first public statement that there were problems with the teachings of the Catholic church, and a call to return the theological teachings to be in line with what Scripture declares. It was not Luther’s intention to begin a new denomination, but we praise God for the work he did to translate Scripture into the common language and the many teachings, catechisms, and sermons he wrote to teach people about the grace of God that was not being highlighted by the church of his day.

Mark your calendar for this special service – October 25th at 9am in the Sanctuary!

Bible study on Romans will still meet that day, at 10:45am in the Ladies’ Lounge.
