This spring we were surprised by the State Fire Marshall with the news that, according to State Codes, our Fire Alarm System must be inspected ANNUALLY!  It makes sense, but no one can remember the last time our system was officially inspected by a qualified contractor.

Koorsen Fire and Security already services part of our fire protection systems, so our Interim Principal reached out and scheduled the inspection for the middle of July.  It was a timely inspection!  Several important components needed attention and even caused a couple of false alarms in July. (LPFD responded promptly!)

The inspection revealed that numerous components must be replaced every 15 years and are well past that time.  Koorsen service techs returned quickly to replace one failing detector located in the ceiling of the hallway outside of the gymnasium.  Multiple heat detectors will be replaced as soon as they arrive (Koorsen has them on order).

A Network Area Controller (NAC) has been malfunctioning all year.  Koorsen will also repair or replace this component when they return.  Until that time the system IS functioning properly and their are redundancies built into the system.
